Where I work in Sussex

Crawley, Gatwick, Horsham, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill are the quickest from Surrey. Brighton and Hove, Worthing, Shoreham, Lewes, Eastbourne and Hastings are covered on weekly arrangements and for audits.

On the route

New sites usually go in within days, because they are fitted around an existing weekly route. Coastal sites get hit harder by wind than inland ones, so if your scaffold is near the sea, a post-weather inspection arrangement is worth agreeing up front.

Why Sussex contractors use an independent inspector

A scaffold has to be inspected before first use, after any alteration, after any event likely to have affected its stability, and at intervals of no more than seven days. On the Sussex coast the third trigger comes round often, and the gap between a windy night and the next scheduled inspection is where records go missing. An independent inspector on a fixed weekly round, with the option of a call-out after bad weather, closes that gap and gives the principal contractor the record they will ask for.

"The seven-day clock resets after a storm, whether or not anyone was watching it."

What you get

Frequently asked questions

All the way to the coast for weekly contracts and audits. Crawley, Horsham and East Grinstead are the fastest for a one-off visit because they are on an existing route.

Yes. A scaffold must be inspected after any event likely to have affected its stability, and high winds count. Call on the day and I will tell you when I can get there.

Yes, both.
